Kaisa Keranen on Redefining Fitness and Moving for Pleasure

Podcast: The Idealists

“Every single morning I look in the mirror and I look at my arms. My arms are huge… I have very muscular arms. The first thing I think is goddamn these big ass arms, a second later I remind myself these big ass arms help me do 10 pull-ups, 20 push-ups, crazy movement that I want to do every single day. They carry me throughout this life… they do not define me.

“It might be something that I look at because of media and because of everything else I’ve been told, but I don’t sit in that. I don’t dwell in that. What my arms look like does not define who I am as a woman. Some days I’m more positive to myself than others, but on a positive day I’d be like look at all the shit I did this week in business, in family life, and all the other things I’m proud of that are not defined by what I look like.”

Kaisa talks on THE IDEALISTS podcast with Melissa Kiguwa who seeks to feature the world’s most visionary women, femmes, and gender-expansive persons around the world. (Original air date: Aug 2, 2022)
