Hey Team,
A lot has changed for me in the past two years, as it probably did for most of you, too. There was a time in my life when this would have led to immense feelings of guilt and shame for not being where I thought I should be (especially physically).
Then I realized . . . The journey is hard enough as it is. Why am I making it harder by constantly beating myself up about things I can’t control?
The weight of being disappointed in myself and constantly upset about where I was, was lifted when I started telling myself to “respect the season you’re in!” When I stopped trying to resist the season I was in and all that came with it, the journey stopped feeling so damn hard. Learning to meet myself with unconditional love, compassion, and empathy changed the game.
Life is a pie that never grows bigger. The slices are going to look different in each season. In some seasons the work slice is extra large and in other seasons you may be able to slice off a larger piece for yourself. Most of the time you will have very little control over that, so be gentle on yourself and respect the season you’re in.
And a gentle reminder for those who need it . . . If you’re going through a particularly tough season, remember that seasons do not last forever. Seasons change and you are resilient.
